Medical Herbalist Consultant to Artemis Herbs
Kate Butler BA(Hons), Dip. Phyt., MINMH
Kate Butler is the herbal consultant for Artemis herbs and advises them on herbal product quality, usage information and safety.She undertook four years of intensive training at the Sussex School of Phytotherapy to qualify as a Medical Herbalist and has been a member of the National Institute of Medical herbalists (MNIMH) since 1997. Kate has developed and runs introductory courses for the public in safe self-help with herbal medicine, and has patient clinics in Liverpool and Southport. Her previous background is in psychology, counselling and health promotion within the NHS, and she uses a great deal of her general health promotion and counselling skills in her treatment approach. Having worked within the NHS, Kate is committed to better communication between orthodox and complementary therapies, and believes that all therapies have their own vital roles to play when practiced professionally and with integrity. She also believes in working in partnership with patients and respecting their right to choose their own methods of healing.
Kate believes that the quality of herbs used is of utmost importance, and is very concerned about the environmental and ecological impact of commercial harvesting of herbs from the wild. She advocates the use of organic or wildcrafted, and non-endangered herbs.
