Diabetics and Nettle Tincture

My son is diabetic - can he still use Nettle Tincture?

The herbalist writes ...
Yes, he can try the nettle. Many herbs have a hypoglycaemic (i.e blood sugar lowering effect), which in many ways is desireable but can be dangerous in diabetics. If he is insulin dependent, he simply needs to check his blood levels as usual, but he must be aware that he may need less insulin whilst taking the nettle. He may also be advised to build up the dosage gradually, starting at maybe 10 drops twice daily, and monitoring his blood sugar carefully.

If he feels that he is suffering any adverse effects, he should stop the nettle imeediately and seek advice.
