One Arthritis Sufferer's success with Herbal Medicine
Artemis Herbs is pleased to provide this testimonial to herbalism from a lady who has suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis for many years. She saw a practising herbalist who is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. She had never tried herbalism before. This article was written in September 2001.I have suffered with Rheumatoid Arthritis for 12 years. My doctor prescribed pain killers and anti-inflammatory tablets, which helped. I suffered intense pain, first in my hands and feet, then later also in my neck and shoulders. I have been taking up to 8 pain killers per day for the last two years, sometimes having to ask the doctor for something stronger.Three months ago a friend suggested I try herbal remedies, and subsequently I had a consultation with a registered Medical Herbalist.
I was very nervous and tense, but the consultant was so kind and caring, I was soon put at ease and taking in all she explained to me. I agreed on a course of treatment (but I was under no pressure at any time). The treatment included dietary advice as well as a herbal mixture.
After five or six weeks I felt less pain in my joints, and so heartened I continued the medication.
I then became quite ill. Finally the cause of the new illness was found to be one of the blood pressure tablets I take affecting my liver. I was on two tablets per day at the time owing to high blood pressure. The offending tablet was stopped and I was also given anti-biotics. But I also stopped taking my herbal preparation - I was afraid it may have had something to do with with my illness.
So I recovered from my illness, but the pain in my neck, shoulders and hands became almost intolerable. I quickly resumed my herbal medication.
That was over 3 weeks ago. As before, the pain in my joints has reduced. I still suffer pain, but it is nowhere near as intense. And I am getting pain free periods during the day and night.
Also my blood pressure is now near normal.
On the advice of the herbalist, I am reducing my herbal medication by half.
See how it goes ...
She also says:
After taking the prescribed herbal medicine for 12 weeks the perpetual pain that I have suffered in my neck and shoulders has eased considerably, and my blood pressure, which has been high for many years, is now near normal.I fully intend to carry on with the herbal medicine, I feel sure it is helping me.
My sincere thanks to the medical herbalist for her consultation and to Artemis Herbs for the introduction.
